Verka is the consumer brand of Milkfed, the Punjab State Cooperative Milk Producers' Federation, whose district unions hold BIS licences for products such as milk powder. On 8 May 2024 the Bureau of Indian Standards published a recall alert for skimmed milk powder made under IS 13334:2014 by the Ludhiana District Co-operative Milk Producers Union, the Verka unit at Ludhiana. BIS issues such alerts when a sample drawn under its certification scheme fails to conform to the Indian Standard; the specific parameter is stated in the order PDF linked from the BIS page and is to be quoted from it.
The recall is confined to skimmed milk powder from that licensee and to the lots named in the order. It does not extend to Verka's liquid milk, ghee, curd or other products, none of which appears in BIS alerts or in publicly reported FoSCoS recalls.
No FSSAI notice, licence action or other regulatory measure against Verka or Milkfed is on record for 2024 to 2026.
