Rajasthan is the only state to have prohibited energy drinks outright. On 11 Jul 2026, eight days after FSSAI's national relabelling order, the state's food safety machinery ordered a halt to the sale, storage and promotion of eight brands and reported seizing more than five lakh units in follow-up raids. The stated ground was misleading claims, echoing FSSAI's objection to the term 'energy drink'.
News24's list of the eight brands: Red Bull, Sting, Hell, Campa Energy, Monster, After Shack, Adrenaline Rush and 'Tropicana', is the only version located so far. The inclusion of Tropicana, a juice brand, points to an error somewhere between the order and the report, and the whole list is flagged for verification against the state notification before it is treated as final.
Because this is a state order under the Food Safety and Standards Act's provisions for state commissioners, it has no effect outside Rajasthan. It is, however, the reason 'is Red Bull banned in Rajasthan' and 'energy drink banned in India' spiked in July 2026. Whether the brands have challenged the order in the Rajasthan High Court is not recorded in the sources held here.
