BigMuscles Nutrition is a sports-nutrition brand that appears more often than any other in India's independent protein-powder testing. The Citizens Protein Project 1, a self-funded study published in Medicine in April 2024, reported that Frotein Whey delivered 26.1% protein against a 76.5% label claim and that Vegan Protein delivered 19.4% against 81.3%, with the carbamate pesticide fenobucarb detected in the latter. BigMuscles responded that the report was forged; the rebuttal's wording and source are still to be quoted from the primary statement.
Two commercial testers have separately graded the brand. Trustified listed Premium Gold Whey as FAIL on 3 Mar 2023, and Unbox Health gives Essential Whey a Grade C, its lowest published whey grade. The parameters behind each are to be confirmed from the testers' reports.
None of this is a regulatory finding. FSSAI has issued no recall, prohibition or notice against BigMuscles that is on record, and the products remain on sale. The findings are recorded here as independent test results with the brand's dispute noted.

The 2024 results were published in a peer-reviewed journal; the company says the report is forged. Both positions are on record and neither has been tested by a regulator.
Test your own tub if it matters
NABL-accredited labs test protein content for a modest fee. The brand's certificate of analysis for your batch is a reasonable thing to ask for.
