Where the claim comes from

'Amul banned' and 'Amul fails test' searches come from three sources. In January and February 2026 the independent tester Trustified posted videos saying Amul Masti Dahi pouches and Amul Taaza and Gold milk pouches exceeded FSSAI microbial limits; Amul rejected both and no regulator confirmed them, but the clips were reshared as if FSSAI had acted. In December 2023 an AI-generated image of a non-existent 'Amul Sharam Cheese' went viral. In August 2025 a fabricated Amul billboard about US tariffs was passed off as real.

Amul has never been banned in India and is not under any FSSAI, BIS or court order today. The brand's own hub page records nothing on FoSCoS, BIS or FSSAI press for 2024 to 2026. The reason people ask is a run of viral content in 2023 to 2026, none of it from a regulator.

The most recent wave is Trustified. On 7 Jan 2026 the tester posted a video claiming a pouch of Amul Masti Dahi failed hygiene tests while the cup version passed. Amul replied that Masti Dahi meets all FSSAI and internal requirements, that both formats are made in the same ISO-certified plants with more than 50 checks, that dahi is a live product, and that it did not know how the sample had been stored before testing. In February 2026 Trustified reported coliforms of 980 CFU/ml in Amul Taaza and 25 CFU/ml in Amul Gold pouches, while Amul's UHT tetra pack passed. Amul called the videos an attempt to spread misinformation and said breaks in the cold chain at distribution or retail, not its plants, would explain such readings. FSSAI has published no finding either way.

The older items are plain hoaxes. In December 2023 an AI-generated image of 'Amul Sharam Cheese' spread on WhatsApp; Amul issued a public notice that no such product existed. In August 2025 a fabricated Amul billboard about US tariffs went viral; The Quint found it had been made or altered by software and did not appear on any Amul channel.

Amul is not banned, not recalled and not under notice in India as of 20 Sep 2026.

Buy as usual

No Amul product has been recalled, prohibited or flagged by a regulator.

A YouTube lab result is not an order

Trustified buys retail packs and tests them. Coliforms and plate count in pasteurised milk rise fast if a pouch sits warm at a shop or in transit, so a retail sample cannot show where the fault lies. Only official sampling can, and none has been published.

Keep it cold

Refrigerate pouch milk and dahi as soon as you get home and use them by the pack date. That is the practical lesson from the 2026 videos, whatever their cause.
