Maharashtra FDA suspends licences of four Domino's outlets (Aug 2026)

In August 2026 the Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration, under Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe, ran a special drive through chain restaurants. Business Standard reported that 104 outlets of chains including Domino's, KFC, Pizza Hut, McDonald's, Subway, Burger King, Starbucks and Monginis were inspected; 95 got improvement notices, five had licences suspended and two were told to stop operating.

The suspensions announced on Wednesday 12 Aug 2026 covered four Domino's Pizza outlets run by Jubilant FoodWorks: Vile Parle West, Borivali West and R-City Mall in Ghatkopar West, all in Mumbai, and Malkapur near Karad in Satara district. At Vile Parle inspectors listed the FSSAI licence not being displayed, and lapses in potable water, food storage, pest control and hygiene facilities. Borivali was recorded at roughly 15 percent non-compliance on storage, temperature monitoring and pest control; Ghatkopar on cleanliness, sanitation, pest control and storage; and Malkapur at roughly 40 percent non-compliance on facilities and pest control.

Pune Pulse, reporting the same drive, listed insects in preparation areas, missing water-testing records, no first-in-first-out stock system, and products without expiry labels among the findings across the pizza outlets inspected. The Pune division's list of 16 establishments acted against on 14 Aug 2026 included the Domino's at Karad and a Pizza Hut at Karad.

A licence suspension stops the outlet operating until the FDA accepts that the problems are fixed. It is not a ban on the brand and no product recall followed. Jubilant FoodWorks' public response, and the dates on which the outlets reopened, are not recorded in the sources held here.
