Patanjali's food arm has one recall on record. On 24 Jan 2025 Patanjali Foods withdrew a single batch of packed red chilli powder, about four tonnes, after FSSAI directed a recall for non-conformity; Deccan Herald reported the issue as pesticide residue. The company asked customers to return packs for a refund. The FoSCoS recall reference and the laboratory parameter are still to be confirmed from the primary record.
The larger story in search results is the Supreme Court contempt case, which ran from November 2023 to August 2024 and concerned misleading advertisements, chiefly for Divya Pharmacy's ayurvedic medicines. Uttarakhand suspended 14 product licences in April 2024 and later restored them. That matter belongs to the medicines side of the record but is often conflated with a 'food ban', which it was not.
Patanjali honey was also flagged during this period, and the 2024 Citizens Protein Project placed Patanjali's herbal protein blends in a caution group over hepatotoxic botanicals. Neither amounts to a regulatory prohibition. No Patanjali food product is banned in India.
