Kinder Joy's Indian record consists of one notice. In June 2026, during FSSAI's campaign against unsubstantiated nutrition and 'healthy' claims, the regulator wrote to Ferrero disputing the 'rich in milk solids' claim printed on Kinder Joy packaging. Deccan Herald reported it among products that were flagged but remained on shelves. The date, reference and Ferrero's response are still to be confirmed.
The notice sits alongside a much older and unrelated story. Kinder Surprise, the hollow chocolate egg with a toy capsule inside, is prohibited in the United States under a law against non-nutritive objects embedded in confectionery. Kinder Joy was designed as the workaround: a two-compartment egg with the toy sealed separately from the edible half. It is sold legally in the US and in India. Searches for 'Kinder Joy banned' mostly stem from that confusion.
No recall, prohibition or licence action against Ferrero India is on record for 2024 to 2026.
