Where the claim comes from
The claim spread in July 2026 when FSSAI's 3 Jul order removing the words 'energy drink' from labels was reported as a 'ban', and Rajasthan's 11 Jul prohibition on eight brands was reported without the word 'Rajasthan'. Punjab's 2025 school-zone directive and Maharashtra's July 2026 restriction on Sting added to the confusion.
Hell Energy is not banned in India. Like every caffeinated beverage it must comply with FSSAI's 3 Jul 2026 order by 29 Sep 2026: no 'energy drink' on the label, the descriptor 'Caffeinated beverage', caffeine within 145 to 300 mg per litre and warning statements. FSSAI has declined to extend the deadline.
Rajasthan's 11 Jul 2026 order is the source of the 'banned' claim. It prohibited the sale, storage and promotion of eight brands, reportedly including Hell, and was accompanied by seizures. The list is being verified against the notification. The order has no effect outside Rajasthan.
No recall, test failure or licence action involving Hell Energy is on record with FSSAI or any state.
