Monster Energy sits in the same position as every other caffeinated drink sold in India: subject to FSSAI's 3 Jul 2026 order but not banned by it. The order strips the phrase 'energy drink' from packaging, requires the product to be sold as a 'Caffeinated beverage', keeps caffeine within the 145 to 300 mg per litre band of regulation 2.10.6 and adds warning statements. The compliance date is 29 Sep 2026 and FSSAI has said it will not move it.
Rajasthan's 11 Jul 2026 order is the only instrument that removes Monster from sale, and only inside that state. It named eight brands and reported seizures of more than five lakh units. The list circulating in the press has not been checked against the notification and is flagged accordingly.
Searches for 'energy drink banned in india monster' usually trace back to the Rajasthan reporting. Outside Rajasthan, Monster remains on sale; no recall, test failure or licence action is on record.

Labels are changing, not availability
The national order is about names, caffeine declarations and warnings. It does not withdraw the drink from shops outside Rajasthan.
Rajasthan is the exception
Rajasthan issued a state-level prohibition on 11 Jul 2026. If you are in Rajasthan, expect the product to be off shelves while that order stands.
Check the caffeine line
From the compliance date, the can should say 'Caffeinated beverage' and state caffeine per litre. Older-label stock may still be in circulation.
