Telangana's food safety task force, which posts its inspection results on social media, visited GSM Mall in Madinaguda, Hyderabad on 29 Jun 2026. At Barbeque Nation the officers recorded cockroach infestation in the fruit storage area and near refrigerators, brownies and kulfi variants stored without labels, damaged chopping boards, unclean vegetable crates and water containers, and no records of food testing, packaging material or pest control. The outlet scored 86 out of 110 on the checklist.
The unlabelled desserts were destroyed on the spot and an improvement notice was issued, with the management instructed to correct the deficiencies immediately. Chinese Wok in the same mall received a notice on the same visit for, among other things, a 36-hour shelf life assigned to cooked rice without laboratory validation and missing medical fitness records for staff.
An improvement notice under the Food Safety and Standards Act is the first formal enforcement step. It does not close the outlet or suspend its licence. Whether Barbeque Nation complied, and whether the task force revisited, is not recorded in the sources held here. No wider action against the Barbeque Nation chain has been reported in 2026.
