Where the claim comes from
KitKat rumours ride on Nestlé's other news. In 2015 the Maggi withdrawal produced lists of 'other Nestlé products to avoid' that included KitKat, though the order never touched it. In January 2022 Nestlé withdrew wrappers printed with images of Lord Jagannath after a backlash, which social posts turned into 'KitKat banned'. The June and August 2026 FSSAI notices to Nestlé India have revived the question.
KitKat has never been banned in India and is not under any FSSAI order today. Each time the question surfaces it can be traced to something that happened to Nestlé, not to KitKat.
In June 2015 FSSAI ordered Maggi noodles withdrawn over lead and undeclared MSG findings. The order applied to Maggi alone. Posts at the time that lumped other Nestlé brands in with Maggi had no basis in any order, and the Maggi ban itself was set aside by the Bombay High Court within months.
In January 2022 Nestlé printed a run of KitKat wrappers as part of a travel campaign for Odisha, using Pattachitra-style images of Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra and Subhadra. Social media users objected that the wrappers would end up in bins and gutters. On 20 Jan 2022 Nestlé said it regretted any hurt and began withdrawing the packs. No regulator was involved; the chocolate itself was never at issue and remained on sale in standard packaging.
In 2026 Nestlé India received an FSSAI notice in June over a Maggi complaint, which its tests answered, and was named in FSSAI's 22 Aug 2026 statement on more than 150 claims and labelling notices without any product being specified. Neither concerns KitKat and neither restricts sale of anything. KitKat is not banned, not recalled and not under notice in India as of 20 Sep 2026.

In January 2022 Nestlé pulled one packaging design. The chocolate inside was never in question and stayed on sale in other packs.
Nestlé's other notices do not spread
FSSAI's notices to Nestlé India in 2026 concern Maggi and unnamed claims. A notice to a company does not restrict every brand it makes.

No. The 2015 order covered Maggi noodles only, and it was set aside later that year.
Why did Nestlé withdraw KitKat packs in 2022?
Because of complaints about religious images on a special wrapper. It was a packaging change by the company, not an order, and the chocolate stayed on sale.
