Where the claim comes from
'Banned chocolate in India' autocompletes to Cadbury, Snickers, Safari and Dairy Milk because of recurring viral posts and video listicles claiming foreign-made or 'chemical' chocolates are banned. None cites an order. The 2024 Bournvita advisory, which involves the same company, is sometimes folded into the claim.
There is no order, notice or recall against Cadbury chocolate in India. Checks of publicly reported FoSCoS recalls for 2024 to 2026, BIS recall alerts and FSSAI's 2026 press notices found no entry for Mondelez India's chocolate brands. Brand-level FoSCoS rows are to be re-checked from an Indian IP before launch, but nothing in the news record suggests one exists.
The one government action involving Mondelez India concerned Bournvita, not chocolate: the April 2024 advisories asking e-commerce platforms to stop listing it as a 'health drink'. That was a categorisation advisory and did not restrict sale.
The 'banned chocolate' search cluster: Cadbury, Snickers, Safari, Dairy Milk, is fed by viral listicles that never cite an instrument. Where such posts refer to real events, they usually mean foreign recalls of specific export lots or to historical episodes long since closed. As of 19 Sep 2026 Cadbury is not banned, and no Indian regulator has said otherwise.
