Is Zincovit banned in India?

Zincovit is Apex Laboratories' multivitamin-multimineral tablet and syrup, made famous by pandemic-era immunity advice. It is not banned in India.

No Section 26A notification names Zincovit or its ingredients, and multivitamins have not been the target of any of the FDC ban waves, which have concerned combinations of active drugs rather than vitamins and minerals. Nor have we found Zincovit in the CDSCO's monthly quality alerts for the 2024 to 2026 period we have reviewed.

The question comes from the alerts themselves. In almost every month, vitamin products from some manufacturer appear among the samples found not of standard quality, vitamin B complex, vitamin C, vitamin D3 and multivitamin tablets in 2024, multivitamins in the December 2025 alert, and vitamin A, D3 and B1 products from a firm named Crossasia Biotech in the July 2026 alert, which listed 280 NSQ samples in all. These are typically small manufacturers supplying government tenders, and the usual failure is that a tablet contains less of a vitamin than its label states. The news headline, "vitamin tablets fail quality test", does not name the maker, and readers substitute the brand they know.

A batch-level finding applies to the manufacturer and batch listed. Zincovit can be taken as before; if an alert ever names it, compare the batch on your pack. The more useful question for a doctor is whether a daily multivitamin is needed at all.
