The Bureau of Indian Standards published a public alert for a recall of packaged drinking water sold under the Aqua Ans brand, manufactured by Aquo Industries, Rajakkamangalam, Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu, under BIS licence CM/L 3456765 for IS 14543:2016. The order is dated 3 Aug 2022. The order names the non-conforming parameter as Coliform (clause 5.2.2 of the standard). The alert covers lot 132, 1 L PET bottles, manufacturing date 04-06-2022.
BIS issues such alerts when a sample drawn under its certification scheme fails one or more requirements of the Indian Standard, and it directs the licensee to withdraw the affected lot and inform the public.
