Sresan Pharmaceuticals, a small manufacturer in Kancheepuram, Tamil Nadu, produced Coldrif cough syrup, batch SR-13 of which contained diethylene glycol at 46 to 48.6 per cent and was linked to the deaths of 24 children in Madhya Pradesh and 3 in Rajasthan in September. October 2025. Tamil Nadu's drugs control authority cancelled all of the company's manufacturing licences and sealed the plant in October 2025. The owner, G. Ranganathan, was arrested on 9 October 2025; a medical representative became the sixth person arrested in August 2026; and the Enforcement Directorate raided seven Chennai locations and attached assets worth more than Rs 2 crore.
