- Abroad
- Prescription-only in several countries
Where the claim comes from
Yohimbine is prescription-only in several countries. No Indian order naming yohimbine was found.
We found no Indian order that names yohimbine. That is why this page does not say it is banned. But a food supplement in India may contain only ingredients that FSSAI's schedules permit, and yohimbine is not in them.
The consequence is the same for a buyer. A pre-workout or fat-burner that lists yohimbine is not a lawful supplement under the 2022 health supplement and nutraceutical regulations, which FSSAI put into operation by its direction of 30 Mar 2022. Yohimbine is prescription-only in several countries.
This page does not say whether yohimbine can be sold as a prescription drug in India. The sources used for it do not address that. As of 10 Oct 2026 the 2022 regulations still work through FSSAI directions; no final gazette notification was found in 2025 or 2026.

Yohimbine is often sold in these products. If it is on the label, the product is outside FSSAI's permitted schedules.
No ban does not mean permitted
Supplements can use only what the schedules list. Yohimbine is not listed.
This is a record of official orders, not medical advice. Do not stop a prescribed medicine without asking your doctor or pharmacist.
Common questions
Is yohimbine legal in Indian supplements?
No. It is not in FSSAI's permitted schedules, so a supplement containing it is not lawful.
