Where the claim comes from
SARMs vendors rank for these searches. No single notice sets out the position: it follows from the absence of any approval and from the Delhi seizure of April 2026.
SARMs have no approval in India, either as a drug or as a food. That is the position in law: a drug needs approval to be sold, and FSSAI's supplement regulations say a health supplement shall not include a drug (regulation 3(4)). Products sold as SARMs are therefore not lawfully sold. We found no CDSCO notice on SARMs in 2025 or 2026, so the position rests on the absence of approval, not on a named ban.
The enforcement example is Delhi. On 24 Apr 2026 FSSAI Northern Region and Delhi Police, acting on a NADA alert, seized stock at the premises of M/s Gaurav Vats Nutrition in Najafgarh, as The Tribune reported. The haul was about 1,500 SARMs capsules, methenolone, trenbolone and stanozolol injections, 300 methandienone tablets, 850 oxandrolone tablets, and 45 kg of expired whey and mass gainers. Cases were reported under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act and the FSS Act.
A seizure and a registered case are the start of a process. This page does not report any finding against the premises beyond what the press reported.
What this means for you
A product sold as a SARM has no lawful route
It has no approval as a drug and none as a food, and a food supplement may not include a drug or contain hormones or steroids.
A seizure is not a ban notice
The Delhi action was a seizure under existing law. It shows that the Drugs and Cosmetics Act and the FSS Act are being used against these products.
This is a record of official orders, not medical advice. Do not stop a prescribed medicine without asking your doctor or pharmacist.
