Our team has checked this record against the published reports, last on 10 October 2026. The government order itself is not published online, or we have not found it yet, so we link the best public report. If you have the order, send it to us and we will link it instead.
Scope. A record here does not by itself mean a product or company is unsafe or banned today. Regulatory actions can apply to one batch, one formulation, one period or one state. Always check the linked government document for the current position, and tell us if something is out of date. How we label records.

On 8 Oct 2026 ETV Bharat and PGurus reported that FSSAI had issued show-cause notices to six companies over protein-related claims: Dr Reddy's Laboratories (for Celevida GLP+), Nestle Health Science, Tirupati Wellness, Amazon Seller Services, Flipkart and Netmeds. The reports quote claims such as 'high protein support for lean muscle preservation during GLP-1/GIP therapies' and 'imported from Europe for purity'.
A show-cause notice is the first step. It asks the company to explain why action should not be taken. The reports do not describe a finding or a penalty against anyone. We have not seen the notices, so which claim was put to which company is not set out here; the two example claims are quoted from the press reports for the set of notices as a whole.
Amazon Seller Services, Flipkart and Netmeds are online sellers. The reports used here do not say which products or listings their notices concern. Nothing in them says any product was banned or taken off sale.
What this means for you
A show-cause notice asks for an explanation
It is not a finding that a claim is false, and it is not a ban. This page will be updated if FSSAI decides.
Whey and protein powder remain on sale
These notices are about claims. They do not ban protein products.
This is a record of official orders, not medical advice. Do not stop a prescribed medicine without asking your doctor or pharmacist.
