CDSCO: Not of Standard Quality (NSQ) alerts, public portal (monthly lists from state and central labs)
No regulator has acted on this finding. It comes from a published study or a private testing company, and the brand may dispute it.
Scope. A record here does not by itself mean a product or company is unsafe or banned today. Regulatory actions can apply to one batch, one formulation, one period or one state. Always check the linked government document for the current position, and tell us if something is out of date. How we label records.
Below: Blacklisted's explanationWe explain what the test or study found. No regulator has acted on it.
Key facts

- None found
- Why people ask
- A 2022 recall of Dove dry shampoo aerosols in the United States for benzene (Unilever, voluntary), which did not cover India, and general 'is X banned' searches
- Maker
- Hindustan Unilever Ltd
Dove, made in India by Hindustan Unilever, has no entry in CDSCO's monthly lab alerts or public notices in the period we read, January 2019 to August 2026. The 'banned' searches trace to a voluntary recall in the United States in October 2022 of aerosol dry shampoos, including Dove, for traces of benzene in the propellant; those products were not sold in India and no Indian regulator acted.
A clean record is a statement about regulator action, not a safety certificate. It means no government lab has reported a failed Dove batch and no authority has issued a notice.
What this means for you
What 'no record' means
No CDSCO alert, failed state lab test, import cancellation or court case names the brand in the records we read. It does not certify that every product is safe; it says no regulator has acted.
One batch, not the brand
A failed lab test names a batch number and the lab that tested it. It does not mean every pack of that product is affected. Check the batch on your pack against the one in the record.
This is a record of official orders, not medical advice. Do not stop a prescribed medicine without asking your doctor or pharmacist.
Common questions
Was Dove recalled in India?
No. The 2022 dry shampoo recall was in the United States and Canada. No Indian recall exists.
