N°2/2022: Falsified DESREM (remdesivir) injection

The WHO warned on 9 March 2022 that falsified DESREM, a remdesivir injection used for COVID-19, had been identified in India and Guatemala. The genuine product is manufactured by Mylan Laboratories in India; the falsified vials carried Mylan's branding but were not made by the company and were not authorised for supply. The alert asked national regulators and health workers to check batch details against the genuine manufacturer's records and to report suspect products.
