Maharashtra FDA publishes a table of products declared not of standard quality. Its rows for products sold as ayurvedic include four that contained undeclared drugs, according to the table as read on 9 Oct 2026. The table has 190 rows, about 20 of them for ayurvedic, siddha and unani products.

The four rows are a product of Gurudarshan Ayurvedic Dawakhana with paracetamol and diclofenac; 'Fasttake Ayurvedic Churn Sugar Safe' with metformin; a product printed as Vanganga with famotidine; and an unlabelled 'Mulpeshi Vikas' with mercury.

The table gives the maker as printed on the sample. Where it prints the maker as unlabelled or purported, the product cannot be attributed to a licensed company, and we do not do so. The table is our only identification of these products, and we have not verified whether the printed names belong to licensed firms. These are findings on named products. They are not a finding about ayurvedic medicines in general.

What this means for you

Do not link these to a licensed brand

The table prints the maker as it appears on the sample. An unlabelled or purported product cannot be traced to any licensed ayurvedic company.

Four rows, not a pattern

Four rows in a table of 190 are too few to say anything about products in general. We make no claim beyond the named rows.

This is a record of official orders, not medical advice. Do not stop a prescribed medicine without asking your doctor or pharmacist.

Common questions

Does this mean ayurvedic medicines contain allopathic drugs?

No. Four rows in a table of 190 concern products sold as ayurvedic. They are named findings, not a finding about ayurvedic medicines or any licensed brand.
